Well it’s never too late in life to get fit. How about Martial Arts for Seniors How to stay fit. Staying fit should be a life long aim and learning a little about the martial arts will help. Believe me when I say one of the best ways to stay in shape is to learn a little karate. Not only that you might be able to beat up a mugger.

So let’s start off slowly by getting that body toned up. Maybe a little cardio and leg strengthening. If your legs don’t work anymore then you can easily work on those punches. Also the blocks are a great way to get those arms working. After all if you learn a few good blocks you won’t get punched.

Or at least be able to build up your confidence. Nothing more scarier than a tough old old guy to get noticed by the ladies. I know when I was younger I took a little martial art training and the workouts were brutal. Knuckle push ups to build up your punching power was often used.

Of course once we get a little on in age doing push ups is a little tough. Just getting up and down off the floor can be a challenge. If you are still able to do a few push ups daily then certainly put it in your routine. Now if you can’t do push ups anymore no worries. Upright exercise can also be very effective to build strength. As far as building up the callouses on your knuckles you can try wall push ups.

A wall push up is simply standing up and putting your knuckles against the wall. Push back and forth against the wall to harden those knuckles and palms. Switch back and forth to harden your hands. After all a good karate chop to someone’s nose can be quite devastating. There is a lot of kicks associated with karate but if you have leg problems like I do there are options. Concentrating on the upper body blocks and punches can be quite effective against an attacker.
